Photography and Cameras
(in progress)

I just picked an RX100 because the motorized lens on my previous camera (SONY HX50V) died. The RX100 sensor has 16x the surface area as my old camera so hopefully it'll perform better in low light situations.

I think the old one died basically because dirt/grime got in the opening/closing mechanism.  THis seems to be supported by the fact that I opened it clean the body pretty well and it started working again. (Yay!) But, it was still time for a new camera.

It seems obvious that the solution for this is flexible rubber cap to put of the lens body when it's not in use.  I already keep  my camera in a hard case but that's pretty porous to dirt.  In the winter I keep my camera in a ziplock bag but that's more for waterproofing.  This is probably something I should do in any situation where I'm going to get really dirty (i.e: ALL OF THEM).

Lens Body Dimensions
  • Diameter = 2.18" in= 55.35 mm
  • Height = 0.596" = 15.113 mm
