Hall Ranch (Mountain Lion sighting)
Sometimes I think I should change the name of this website to "Travis takes pictures of clouds"
About a quarter mile from the car I caught two incredibly bright green lights ahead of me. They were so bright that my thought was "why the hell are there to bright green lightbulbs 20 feet up in that tree?". Then I realized they were an animals eyes and I thought "oh cool! An owl!". When I was about 30 feet away I saw one of the large branches move and I realize that was no owl.
She was perched in a tree directly above the trail. If her eyes hadn't been so bright I would have walked directly under her.
I spent several minutes trying to get a good picture of her and at some point I thought "what the hell am I doing??". I walked backward/sideways until I got to the car.
I wasn't sure I'd ever see a mountain lion. Colorado State Parks and Wildlife estimates that there are about 3000-7000 mountain lions statewide.
