Bushwacking Bear Peak

Warm temperatures on Sunday caught me by surprise and mid afternoon I decided to try to get one more scramble in before the season officially came to a close.  I'd been eyeing the Devils Wing's (aka Angel's wings) on the east face of Boulder mountain and decided to go for it.  I hurriedly made a peanut butter sandwich, dumped a box full of clif bars in my bag, filled up on water and I was out the door.  

My haste (as per usual) led to some poor planning decisions.  ​Clearly, it would have more efficient to start at Shanahan Ridge but I wanted to try something new and headed out towards the S. Boulder Creek West trailhead.  

Before reaching the forested part of the trail there were excellent views of both Boulder Mt/peak (Southern Flatirons) and Green Mountain (North and Central Flatirons).

By the time I reached the mesa trail It was pretty obvious I wasn't gonna make it up Devil's Wings before the sun went down so I decided to
