Flatirons

The Boulder Flatirons

The mountains directly above Boulder are one of the best parts about living here.  The major areas are from south to north (left to right) Eldorado Canyon, The Flatirons, Flagstaff Mt and Boulder Canyon.  The Flatirons are the region between Shadow canyon and Gregory Canyon (see map below).

References, suggested reading

  • Flatiron Classics by Gerry Roach-- The original book on climbing the Flatirons.  The second edition came out in 2008.
  • Climbing Boulder's Flatirons by Jason Haas-- I have the first edition which has a number of small, but significant errors (incorrect GPS coords,  Presumably, these have been fixed in the second edition.
  • Rock Climbing the Flatirons by Richard Rossiter--The best part of this book is the hard drawn sketches of routes.  These can be more useful than a full color, high resolution photo.
